Relief for those suffering in Iraq

If you are looking for a reliable group to donate to for relief efforts in Iraq, we can suggest Samaritan's Purse to you. Led by Franklin Graham, Billy Graham's son, Samaritan's Purse is currently inside of Iraq, actually on the ground, setting up shelters and providing the basics to religious minorities being displaced by radical Islamists. For everyone who likes to plan ahead, here's what's coming up in the next few weeks:

July 27 (Sun)...PAH-ty at the PAHk after the service if the weather cooperates. Bring food or drink to share, please.

Aug 3 (Sun)...Special remembrance service for Mat Barlow. It will be the 10th anniversary of young Mathew going home to be with the Lord, and we will be having some special pictures, music, and stories during the regular service.

Aug 10 (Sun)...Communion. After church, anyone who is available, we'll be distributing flyers to invite our neighbors to next Saturday's event, which is...

Aug 16 (Saturday!)...Our annual community picnic at the church. Sign up sheets will be available in the hallway. Please come and help us serve our neighborhood!

We're having our regular Sunday School and 11am service tomorrow morning, and then at 6pm we will be having our installation service for Pastor Bob Brachel! Conserve energy today, because you're gonna need it tomorrow! Bob would like for us to all have a dessert party after the evening service instead of a full dinner, so please bring your best sweets to share with everyone.

Yay!!  Pastor Bob Brachel will be officially installed next week, on Sunday evening, the 20th of July.  Please plan right now on joining us at about 6pm for the service, which will be followed by a dessert party, as per his request.  Double Yay!!  We all bring the desserts, of course! So, you've got an entire week to plan what to make or buy, but if you need a hint, Bob likes chocolate, ice cream, bacon, caramel (not necessarily in that order), and lots of other sweet and salty things.  You pretty much can't go wrong...

Bring Your Own Brush party this Sunday!

Please bring paint brushes and/or rollers if you have them, cleaning supplies that you particularly like, mops, rags, etc etc. Oh, and wear grubby clothes. Did I mention grubby clothes? Church will begin at 9:00am and there WILL BE FOOD!!
